Iranian Air Defenses Bring Down Israeli Drone

(MENAFN) Iran’s national broadcaster on Wednesday released footage that it asserts depicts an Israeli manufactured Hermes 900 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) brought down in Isfahan Province.

The channel reported that the Islamic Republic’s air defense batteries had intercepted and destroyed the aircraft in eastern Isfahan, adding that it was fitted with eight sophisticated missiles.

In a separate communiqué, the Israel Defense Forces confirmed that one of its drones had indeed been shot down inside Iran.

According to the statement, the vehicle was struck by an Iranian surface to air missile during overnight operations, and the wreckage came down within Iranian territory.

The army stressed that there was “no risk” of sensitive data being compromised from the wrecked UAV.

Since Israel’s offensive actions against Iran began on June 13, Tehran’s officials have reported the downing of four Israeli warplanes along with multiple UAVs and armed UCAVs.

Until this latest broadcast, however, Iranian outlets had not supplied visual corroboration of the claimed shoot downs.
